Together with his brother, Abbot Peter ensured that the monastery's substantial wealth continued to grow.

An advisor for all matters of reformation

As an advisor to Duke Ulrich, Johannes Brenz triggered the introduction of Protestant teachings and church constitutions in Württemberg.

An early proponent of the Enlightenment

In 1645, he issued the order for general mandatory schooling in Württemberg and became the headmaster of the monastery school of Bebenhausen.
